Mitsubishi Evo V problem

Hi all, my mate just bought an evo and driving it there earlier this evening under hard acceleration at 4000rpm it seems to give a sudden jolt like a severe misfire, the car is boosting perfect, starts boostin just over 2000rpm and boosts perfect the whole way to the limiter, the engine managment light does not come on or flash when it gives the sudden jolt so its unlikely to be a ignition coil breaking down, does anyone have any experience with evo's or can anyone shed any light on this, i would be very happy , thanks

wouldnt have thought the ecu would pick up a sudden misfire like that. alot of cars dont but evos may do, i done honestly know! could be coil breaking down or a lead or plug problem

my friend have an evo 3 with the same problem.. they find out that the fuel is lean on high rpm.. a fine tune will do just fine

Does the car have any modifications? A little more info may help to give advice!!! What boost fueling etc?

The car has a cat- back exhaust system, a hks mushroom filter and an earthing kit, i've been told the lever on the actuator does get seized by being mounted upside down water gets into it but would it cause this? As far as i know its running standard boost, what is the boost supposed to be on them?

have you tried the mlr forum they would know more about these?? reckon standard boost is about 12psi. sounds very much like either a boost cut or a high rpm lead failure!!
