my car sounds like a scooby

ive just changed my turbo as the seals went in my old one, lots of smoke.
but since ive had the new one in it sounds like a boxer engine and wont idle properly.
can anyone help?

you must lose exhaust fumes from manifold or downpipe.Check out your engine near manifold for black smoke,it sounds that a gasket is not sealed or is cracked.

Could be an exhaust leak, could be a dropped piston/worn rings etc, but check what you have just replaced for leaks first.

Compression test it would be the 1st thing I'd do, doesnt sound good, sounds like the dreaded ringland failure

I had this problem when I put my engine bk in, did you pull the hd leads out at any time? As mine was a stupid mistake and the firing order was wrong? Just an idea

Sounds like an exhaust Leak mate. Mine did the same. I just replaced all the gaskets and cleaned up the flanges to seal it properly.

ive done a compression air test and its leaking back into the crankcase doesnt look good.
time to take the head off and have a look.
will keep posted.

Pistons gone.
the leading edge on one of my pistons has melted away and broken off between the rings
no damaged to bore though thankfully.
got all the parts i need now so time to crack on with it next week.
