It's the same with any car when they come down in value and chavs start being able to afford them but sadly genuine enthusiasts get tarred with the same brush.
It's up to us to keep the price of the starlet out of their reach rather than good spec'd ones goin for 2 grand rather than the 5 or 6 they used to go for.

Ask him to define a boy racer and then differentiate the difference between you and a boy racer.

Anyway what defines a boy racer??

imo the only difference is that a true enthusiast will look after their starlet properly, regular services, regular cleanings, and generally tidy. a boy racer will 'halfordize it' and rag it to death.

and cus of that no matter how many starlets are around, you will ALWAYS tell an enthusisasts car from a boy racer one

Why would you even care what he thinks? Unless you own and drive the car with an aim of portraying a certain image, then just thank him for his opinion but also tell him you couldn't give a toss what he thinks.

i would have taken that as a compliment..

as i think they look like barried up micra's :homer: or the watered down version of the ep82 that was primaraly designed to appeal to the female market..

I really dont understand how the guys on here who own GT's can call the Glanza a girls car . I have owned both and I prefer the look of the GT because its more old school but its not more "Manly" than the Glanza and the Glanza is a much nicer car to drive in my opinion. I found the steering sharper, the back is less giddy and its a bit more solid on the road and lets face it, you are in the car driving it ALOT more than you are outside staring at how "Manly" it is, well you should be anyway.

But back to topic. Ya, the Glanza (and GT mind) would be seen by most as a boy racers car but why is that a bad thing? I personally couldn't care less what anyone else thinks about my car. If your worried about what your friend thinks about the car that you drive and its that important to you, find out what cars he like and buy one of them, then he wont say anything :haha:

Who cares, let him have his opinion, at the end of the day its your car, and modifying it the way you want makes you happy. if he dosnt like it then fair enough, no point trying to convince him.

x2 i cudn give a shit what people think bout gts/glanzas, i find the only peole who say shit like that are people in corsa,saxos,106.

seems like jealousy too me

Have had a few people say the same thing to me since I bought my Glanza.
My previous car was a modded BMW 3-Series, and I was never called a 'Boy Racer' when I was driving it for some reason. At the end of the day, I couldn't give a rast a$$ what people think about my car, it puts a smile on my face and that's all that counts!

I never used to get told my car is a boy racer car when it was converted etc. I got ALOT of respect from it even by BMW drivers :haha: Maybe because it sounded and went like hell and looks like its ready for track rather then a shiny little "young persons" car. They could see it meant business i guess.

Most starlets i see do look like they are aimed for boy racers to be fair but i dont really ever care what people think. I drive the cars i drive to enjoy them and to perform how i want, nothing else matters. A small engined/small hatch is always going to get perceived as 1 thing.

Jack189 got it in one.

the thing is, its ok for us starlet owners to say their not chavy etc, but ive seen plenty of chavy ones out there and every1 is tarred with the same brush. Im sure theres plenty of "saxo, pug and corsa" owners who say they are enthusiasts and yet i guarantee alot of people on here would say "saxos, 106s are all chavy" also i think the way starlets are viewed is very different in england compared to ireland, where it seems they are alot more common in ireland with alot of people having them and so more chavs are getting their hands on them.

works both ways i suppose.

All depends how you modify the exterior i suppose. However much i love Dr.PSI's car, over here it would be classed as boy racer/max power!

I love the girls arse on the left
