Hi guys i need opinions about what turbo to install on my best friend ep82 the car will be for drag we don’t care about lag! Car at the moment is 4E forged, Piggy back ecu, fpr, 440cc injectors. Now we will take in part the engine to rebuilt it and port and polish head, new custom manifold and new intercooler and pipes root. We want to make over 350 bhp and we are thinking for TD05-16g and VF22 which turbo will make more easy power!

The VF22 will make more power than a TD05-16G but will produce more lag, the TD-05 will probably max out around 350bhp but the VF22 is good for around 400bhp

we would like to make 400bhp!!! i thoght that td05-16g and vf22 will have the same lag! if vf22 is 200rpm more lag that td05-16g is ok if it's more i think that it would be bad! what about td05hr-16g from evo (twin scroll) what power will make and spool rpm? i think japan tuners use evo turbo on starlets

Helpful as always,

Ktsirigotakos, either turbo will deliver some serious power good luck choosing the one best suited to your needs.

hey phil...I really try to help out when/where I can :cool:
I don't get to come on here as often as before...but still try to turn the old brain over for the members when I do come on the site :haha::haha:

hope all is well on your end

some good power can be made with all those turbos---- 300++hp...but for all-round, maybe td05 is better.....even on Subaru some forums say the vf22 can be laggy,

If you want 400bhp you may be better off with a TD05-18g or 20g or even a TD06, i dont think theres too much difference in lag between the TD05 and VF22 maybe just a few hundred rpms but the VF22 has a reputation of being a bit unreliable and wont make as much torque.
The evo TD05 boosts a bit quicker than the scooby ones and should still make the same power so that could be a better option :)

if your doing a custom kit why not look at new technology as that TD range and VF is so old school now. You select the turbo right and you'll make the same power but knock about 500rpm off spool up times going with modern ball bearing setups.

I'd look at the GT or GTX garrett range personally.
