Need your help.....again!

Ok, but I did check them and they spin freely without noise and theres no play. But anyways, seems something came in between the beld and sprocket, belt has small tear at one spot in the middle, looks like it was something round that punched a hole into the beld, and the belt skipped a couple of teeth.

What I would like to know now is how easily should I be able to turn the cams on the sprocket when the belt is removed? In know the springs give some resistance but I can only turn it with my right hand ( I'm right handed ), I cannot turn it with my left hand. Some people say that that means theres too much resistance and the head might be warped. Whats your experience?

sounds fine to me. the head would have to be like a banana to affect the turning of the cams.

i would get a new belt, and if you are confident about the tensioners then refit the belt but dont have any of the covers fitted. turn everything by hand and make sure nothing looks like it could go anywhere near the belt.

if it all looks ok give it a run up the road and see what happens.

And if you feel the cambelt by hand, how much should it be able to move from side to side? Should it be stiff like your other belts, more or less?

pretty much. it should feel nicely tensioned but not too tight. is your tensioner spring in good condition? or is it even there at all? that is what basically sets the tension on the belt, then you lock the tensioner in place to hold that tension.

The spring is there, not sure if it tensions correctly though. I found what damaged the second timing belt, was one of those small metal rings that fits into to cambelt cover hole where you fasten it to the engine. It mustve fallen in when I put back the cover. I replaced the belt and the car is running again. Hope this is the end to almost 3 weeks of trouble. Now its just my noisy gearbox that needs attention, not sure whats wrong. But thanks for all the help!
