well as above really im thinking of taking the plunge :) and ive got my eye on a friends car.....ive been reading on the site and came across fuel cut which i believe his car used to experience and he fitted a fcd and says it solved the problem, would it ? s ive read these could do with being accompanied with other fuelling mods but tbh hes never had a problem with the car.
heres the spec of the car
jam bodykit :)
jap style exhaust
uprated manifold
relocated air filter
uprated fuel pump
fcd
fmic
bypassed low an hi boost...currently runing .8 bar
coilies
turbo timer
and he has also got a greddy emanage blue that hasnt been fitted and mapped yet but he says he'll give it me with the car.
plus other bits like cat1 and stripped rear with buckets and harnesse up front :)

what do you guys reckon ?
any help will be much appreciated as i haven't got a clue when it comes to turbo powered cars this would be my first :)

thanks
dan

ive been offered the car at mates rates too, so is hard to resist :)

As you said, FCD would need to be accompanied by an rrfrp (or install/map the EMB and you can remove both) :)

well i will be doing id be taking it to tm developments in loughborough asap as its only £240 to fit and map so worth it in my opinion....by just fitting the fcd it wont cause any damage though would it ?

It could indeed cause damage, the FCD will just mask the issue if it needs more air/fuel and it's only getting more air.... TMD are very good so I hear so no problems there. I'd personally remove the FCD/refit the restrictor on the boost to help limit the creep/lower boost via actuator untill you fit/map emb.

ok ill tell my mate to do that then i dont want i nackered car, also with emanage mapped up what sort of bhp should i expect to see, just a ball park figure as i know its different from car to car when the emanage is on what would be a safe boost to run ?

It depends, I've seen a few achieve 190bhp @ 1bar and others 160-180 usually. All depends on the tune etc, what manifold does it have on do you know?

Thanks for the welcome comments :) also he believes the synchro in second in second is slightly worn so I'd you try slamming it into gear it will crunch,he says it only really happens when going from 1st to 2nd, how much is a gearbox and how will I know if it's the LSD one ? Also would the starlet gt turbo box fit as from what I've read they're basically the same car just re-shelled with a few touches also, would this mean I'd be unable to have the car mapped up properly? I hope you say yes lol
thanks

Hey buddy, Yes buddy the ep91 and ep82 boxs are interchangable (although I was told the early 82' box's were stronger?) I think corolla g6 gearboxes fit too (6 speed) with a little modding, I believe pc18 had a 6speed in his old 82.

you can pick up box's anywhere between 50 - 300 depending on condition (more if it has an LSD etc)

Well the box on it is a lsd box so will more than likely just pay to replace the synchro in 2nd
