Hey all,
I've just picked up my first Starlet in the from of a 1997 Glanza V.
The previous owner had done a couple of mods such as a Cat-Back exhaust, HKS BOV, induction cone filter and a Blitz boost gauge. I've not had chance to look much further than that yet but I was told of nothing else.
Now what I'm concerned about is on high boost its showing 1 bar of boost. This seems somewhat higher than stock. I can't see any signs of a boost controller or bleed valve and the actuator doesn't look to be adjustable.
The boost guage looks like a genuine blitz item so I would be inclined to beleive it. At this poin't I don't have anything else to work from.
Low boost is capped at .5 bar and there if a very noticeable difference between them.
--------------------
What are these engines like when the boost is run up to 1 bar in pressure?
I have read that I should be getting fuel cut but its deffinately not?
Is 1 bar SAFE if the fueling is correct and no knock is detected?
Does the ECU/Engine use a knock sensor and are there any tricks to get a reading from it?
--------------------
I will chuck my wideband probe on it later to make sure its not going lean for starters.
Any advice on how to lower the pressure? I'm stuck to using Low boost at the moment.
