You have a PM re emanage mate.

I'm not looking for a high boost high power setup. I just want it to be safe and fun :)

I think a different actuator may well be the best way to go. What's the pressure on a stock actuator?

it can be a clutch wat creates over boosting(proven)a crap clutch can do the same
.boost solenoids effect the boost bypassing it can raise boost. i can raise .3 of a bar just bypassing my solenoid how do we know some1 hasnt done this to his car.i agree on a adjustable actuator but y pay out on 80-90 pound ,wen you can set it to low boost put a 20 pound boost controller on and get the same effect .if he plans to go to a bigger turbo in 3 month time then it was worthless buying and actuator for that price i cud say go get a fcon and sort it that way it all about how much money you have and what you have to spend personally if i have just spent coin on a new car i dnt wanna be going out spending more wen the actuator may not be the problem .

trust me it can create you to over boost get over 4000rpm see what happen if you spool up fast and your rev fly it your clutch iv had and seen this happen i bought a clutch from toytuning which didnt fit was half the size so i put a 1.6 corrolla clutch in goes like a dream now

if it not your clutch you will get turbo lag

The manis look fairly similar

Someone with a Jam mani will be able to tell what you should be looking for without having to take it off.

Maybe they just port a standard Mani?? Too close to be much else surely?

How exactly does the clutch do that then?

I have to say I don't see how a clutch slipping can create higher boost pressure.

The turbo makes pressure from the exhaust gasses... the harder the engine is worked (ie LOAD) the more exhaust gasses there will be and hence a better feed for the turbo. A slipping clutch is putting less load on the engine. How much boost does it make when at a standstill reving the engne?? Not much I would guess and for that exact reason.

Plus to get a higher boost setting than the actuator is set at it would need to have so much exhaust gasses that the wastegate wasn't able to bleed off the excess and you would get boost creep. (Ignoring boost controllers here)

No mate they cast their own (without the restriction in it obv) the runners are bigger and consistant in size.

They're few and far between so make quite a bit of dollar when they come up for sale

I'm sure the JAM manifold still has a restriction in the 3rd runner, it's just not as bad as the stock manifold.

there wil be a point were a clutch grips and slips iv seen this on my own car after that i will just slip depend on how long it takes u to notice it fecked .

im not saying this his problem im saying it can create boost creap this is beacause the revs are going at a harder rate than the clutch you will get boost just not as much at the wheels.
like i said 4000 rpm hit full throttle if it spools and revs up fast clutch is going i could nail mine at 5000rpm it wudnt go any more until the clutch was turning at the same velocity and it wud over boost until it caught up .

u dnt get boost sat still

Dan dont know if its much help (its a bad pic only one i can find on this comp) of our old jam mani. I dont know of any restriction still in this manifold. This car ran alot of boost through this mani.

I think you have your head screwed on properly and should trust your own instincts and get some sort of piggyback on there. And if there is any doubt that mani is standard rip it off (if wanting to run above standard boost pressure)

Have you managed to pop the wideband on yet?

Cheers for the info guys... I went out with the wideband calibrated and installed in the exhaust and all only to find that I had forgotten to bring home the extension for the lighter socket!! Damn! Hopefully I'll get some results tomorrow evening.

I'm starting to think I may go with the Apexi SAFCII I think for what I'm after it should do the job.

What sort of idle should I be expecting?? I must say that its rather lumpy, almost like its got some Cam "lope"...

Jam mani has NO restrictions( i use one myself)

Cheers everyone... so whats the cheapest route to a better manifold? I see there are some cheapy Mani & De-cats on the Bay... are they any good?
