Got a letter last week about it, every car that is now taxed and classified as on the road must have an insurance policy on the vehicle. If no record is found on the mid then you get a letter-fine-court-crushed in that order :(

if you arent driving it tho, all you need to do is declare it off the road, thats what i do, not point me paying tax for a car im not driving.

yea i know what you mean but alot of people have 3rd party extension so it meant you could have a car that you didnt drive often, but as long as its motd and taxd and not in your name, you could drive it using the cover from your own policy so you didnt pay for 2 policies. Was getting abused alot though, young people driving evo's m3's type r's etc...

my cars are insured all year round. all i do is send back the tax when the winter comes.

thing is, you cant tax a car without insurance anyway so it does sound a little odd?????

Theres ways round it mate, i taxed my type r civic 3 times with no insurance, post office ones arent the smartest people on the plannet lol. But to be honest its good now like this because before i was never covered least if my car ever got stole itll be covered now as im going to pay for my mum to get insured on the car.

I hope to God you weren't actually driving that car on the road when you had no insurance.

I had a third party extension and was well within my rights to use it, in the event of an accident i was insured perfectly etc. its just a loophole that they have now closed. I got the car lifted a few months back by a police man that didn't exactly understand the law, had to pay 150 to get my car back, needless to say i got a cheque threw the post last week and i have in a claim for a new front bumper :D

So to answer your question, i was fully insured.

Thats good to hear lad, glad your not one of those that think its ok to drive around without insurance. I have seen lads down here do stupid things with insurance discs just so they wouldn't get caught by the Gardai but they weren't actually insured and they'd be driving around happy out thinking they got one over on them

aye i wouldnt be that stupid, lost the license when i was 18 fucking about at that craic and to be honest it made me appreciate my license so much more. I was at school still and got 6 points and a 775 fine. Best thing could have happened as its the only way you learn.

Hang on a sec most places if not all places say that the second car has to have a insurance policy on it from someone other than yourself for you to get third party cover from your own insurance ??

no your not right mate, my car got lifted as the cop had the same view as you, quinn direct allows you to drive any car as long as its motd and taxed

Ok fair enough just asking, It's not my view it is the the rules of the two insurance companies that insure my GT and fiesta.

I want to have the Gaymera as my everyday car and when the Glanza is back on the road I want a limited mileage policy, how do I go about that and who are the best
