No insurance disk

I am waiting on a insurance disk to arrive...I am insured from the morning and dont think i will have the disk until friday.Is it illegal to drive without one?seen as i am waiting for it?

your given 10 days by the gards cause as you said it only takes 7 working days or under to recieve the insurance disc.. go and enjoy, your legally insured..

ya your supposed to be given 10 days, but i was drivin a civic b4 and got stopped and got fined 60euro for non display of disc id say its because they didnt like the look of the car! depends on the guard you meet!

Usually in cases like this i would request a cover letter either emailed or faxed straight away from the insurance company which i display in my disk holder until the disk arrives....safe and best way if you ask me....

my company wouldnt do that so just got the ref number and put it in the holder till the disc arrived but ya tanz that would be a good thing to do...

would they not i say i have been with nearly every insurance company both here and n.i and never not once did any of them not agree to doing it....even when i went through brokers they would do it also on behave of them....

oh trust me i tried cause i had itchy feet to go drive the car.. my actual insurance company is based in kent in england and they just wouldnt do it my broker said.. arrived within the week anyway..

I'm having exactly the same situation as you mate.
I just asked my insurer to fax me a cover letter to prove that i'm insured.
The guards approve of that.

All they want at the end of the day is to ensure that you are insured:)
