hi evryone,

i might be stupid asking you guys this but what means " to notch the block". Apparently, it has to be done when putting new forged rods depending on the manufactuer, am i wrong??
Could you explain brievely what it is ? thanks

aftermarket/forged rods use thicker caps/ends and larger rod bolts to make them stronger. This extra size needs to be compensated for by taking a ''notch'' out of the block where the aftermarket bits would touch/foul

Like you say though, depending on engine/manfacturer the rods may be made to fit so notching isnt required.
