coming out my oil catch can thats attached to the breather on the rocker cover.

it doesnt come out all gunky like that i think its just after mixing with moisture in the catch can.

compression test showed fine.

note : i know thats not the proper way to have a catch :p

been told it may be ringland damage on the pistons but thought i would post up here to see what people thought.

thanks for any help.

aye, well how about cleaning it up, clean out the catch can and see if it happens again? I mean compression coming out like that is a good sign at least:)

i did empty it last week. i feel a bit less worried after the compression test but lots of little things happenin at once mess with your head lol.

What were the results of the compression test?

Looks like a huge quantity, it's either head gasket or piston ringlands. Unfortunately a static compression test doesn't tell the whole story with piston damage, sometimes it can read fine and even up until the point where the bits of piston manage to escape and destroy the bores.

I wouldn't be driving it anywhere if that's the result of a few days...

seems as though pistons/rings are shot, so much oil lol.
only other thing, check your crank presure may either be cloged or need to get it rebored

your getting water into your oil fella from a bad headgasket leak .water mixing with the oil in crank wount show up on a compression test

how do you check your crank pressure, or is that a stupid question...... im havin a similar problem..

have you a cacth can and if so hows it hooked up .mybe you have it hooked up wrong..ive seen cacth cans fill like that due to the head gasket was leaking from the water port and mixing with the oil ..also a crack on a head can do it too

i had the one hose coming from the breather on the rocker to the can then vented the can..... alot of oil build up. that milky shitty way, took the can off still oil coming from the breather tho....... think moisture was gettin into the can makin it all milky shitty...

do 4efte engines only have the breathers on top of the rocker?? is there anymore elsewhere. is it possible that a certain breather can get cloged up.

100 percent say that the antifreeze/water is mixing with your oil somehow

bad info here guys,

you get emulsified oil (creamy mix) in the catch can because any moisture/condensation in the engine oil when the engine is warming up, gets "caught" in the catch tank, thats the idea of a breather.. aloows any fuel/water etc in the oil to burn/evaporate off and out of the engine.

I agree. Have you checked the condition of the oil by pulling the dipstick out?

Have you ever emptied your catch can?

yes, that will be buggered rings/ringlands, the fact its creamy is probs due to the fact its accumulating in the can, if you ran a filter off the rocker cover it would no doubt cover the rocker cover in oil

Usually short journeys are the main culprit of creamy deposits on the oil cap and in the breather system!

i dont see if its filling up every week like that its just vapor .

Granted, it's probably not just vapour and there must be some excessive crankcase pressure to blow that amount of crap out of the breather, but I would think it's unlikely caused by a blown head gasket.

The lad is in Edinburgh, so I would expect the conditions are quite cold and damp at the moment.

I'd check the condition of the oil that's actually in the engine, give the catch tank a good clean up, check the PCV valve is in working condition and then run the car for a few more miles before rechecking the situation.
