Oil pump

Hi guys

I order a new oil pump for my rebuild and i receive one from a 5e i think. My oem one was with an o-ring but the new one is without. Can i use this one without the o-ring?

The O ring will either be in the pump or the block, they cannot be interhanged

when we build gaz's engine we used a 5e pump with no o ring just sealant but when i build mine i used a 4e pump with i o ring so i dont think it maters

Dave the o-ring was on the pump. The surface on the block is staight.
