Oil Temps

Can somebody tell me what oil temps theyre getting when warm? Mine seems a little on the cool side, I dont think my oil thermostat (for my oil cooler) is working as it should. Also, are there any effects on turbo or engine when running too cool?

Cheers

Depends on the grade of oil you use, but it should be operating at around 85 deg. Unless your seeing temps of around 115 deg thats when a cooler is needed. Or change to a thicker hot grade oil.

An oil that runs cooler than its optimum temperature will be too thick, it won't reach the bearings, lubricate the turbo, lubricate cams, cam caps. etc.

oil variables

share with us what oil you are running and what actual temps you are seeing when driving. also check what temps you see when town-driving and when thrashing it. how healthy is your engine..?

I get 80 deg on normal driving , oil pressure steady 3bar
it goes to 85-90 deg when driving a little bit harder (depending on outside temps) max 4 bar pressure
Im currently running in my new engine, so cannot thrash it to redline with full throttle.

using Millers competition running in oil , mineral 10w40
