New here! Purchased a 96 Glanza V a couple months ago and was curious on what people preferred depending on climate and build. I live in the US and where I'm at we get hot summers and cold winters(not that I will be driving it in the winter). Motor has no modifications and is stock with about 240,000kms on it.

Hi there, welcome to the site, I'd guess there's not too many Glanzas about in the US even at this stage!

Most engines locally have run on 10-40w semi synthetic without any hassle. In Japan they are prescribed 5-30w but a thicker oil suits our climate and usage here (UK). You could run a fully synthetic if you preferred but I've never strayed too far from semi.

Also I find if I use a thinner oil it can bypass seals given the age of these engines. This promotes leaks, weeps and oil consumption.

Whatever you chose regular oil changes are the key. Should be every 5000 kms to keep things sweet.

Brand wise, I always use fuchs or comma oil and fluids. It been well proven in local high hp starlets :)

I've always had Miller's CFS fully synthetic 10w40 on my GT.

Must be working fine as the engines done nearly 175k miles now.

i live on a Caribbean island...temperature's around 30C daily, it can get hotter sometimes,,we don't get a winter/snow season....i run fully synthetic 20W50...the lowest viscosity i'd risk is 10w40 for hotter climates

if you do drive the car in the winter, maybe you can change to a thinner viscosity during the winter period and switch back to the thicker viscosity during the summer??

Just checked I've only Caldina and Yaris filters there,
Jay will know tho :)
Appreciate it! I kinda doubt US Toyota dealers will have oil filters for these even though I do believe the corollas we got back then had the 4E-FE so maybe. Was able to find a part number for the TRD filters for glanza v's but the one's I have found for sale people are asking big time money for. Might just have to go with the OE one's from idworkz

Genuine part number is 90915-10001 and a Toyota dealer in the US should be able to offer something compatible from stock I'd imagine. There's plenty of cross-compatability with Toyota.

The Greddy ones I use are part number OX-01, the same filter suits 3S and 4E engines plus quite a few others.

I notice they are sold out on Greddy’s site. I’m assuming they are still in production but just sell quick?

Hey Jay how much oil do these cars require when doing an oil change? I’ve read anywhere from 2.5-3.5 litres
