panhard rod query?

Can u guys please help?

Im currently fitting a RSR panhard rod that i bought off a guy on here off his EP82...im now fitting it to my EP91.

I was told i didn't need to adjust it, as it was already set but i can't seem to get the holes lined up. I'v got the suspension end on n im tryin to line up the chassis bolt but its about half the hole diameter out.

Am I best adjusting it til it fits or is there something im missing coz i don't really want to change the length.....if it is set

Rep added for help :p

Im sure you have the geometry once fitting one of these as the back axle is re aligned? Plus no two cars are the same in geometry i imagine

set it the same as your stock panhard rod and then take measurements from there.

if its only half a hole out just pull the car across a bit. the panhard rod ties the suspension and the body of the car together to stop it flapping about

how do u mean "pull the car across" ?

iv tried jacking up the rear arm but it doesn't make any difference.

i get that the geometry of each car is prob different n that it may depend how the height but i was wondering if ur meant to fit it then adjust to make car straight??

how is the car raised up for you to get underneath?

if the wheels are on ramps then the car should move enough if you push it to line the hole up.

if you have jacked the car up and the wheels are in free air then move the axle side to side to fit it on.

i just got my dad to push or pull to get it to line up.

yeah iv got the back sittin on axle stands wit the wheels hangin free.

will recruit a buddy to help me push it 2moro.....thanks for the advice

right got it fitted but it seems to hav pulled the whole rear suspension over so that the driverside wheel sticks out from the arch n the passenger one is inside the arch.....will post up pics

not sure if i really need it as the OEM one looks like the wheels are quite central

this is how it looks fitted....

do i need to adjust it so both wheels are pulled in or stick out?

So based on the RSR video....am i to make my panhard rod longer than the standard one so both wheels stick out/central?

Not sure if there's any point having a adjustable panhard rod coz the wheels are pretty much central using the standard one  wot to do

going by the video, the panhard rod will need to be shortened in order to make sure both wheels are central and one isnt sticking out further than the other.

tbh, most of the time the wheels are central with the stock panhard rod.

what you can do is just adjust it enough if you have wider wheels so the passenger side doesnt hit the arch on hard bumps.

make sure the car is sitting on the floor as it looks like it still up in the air in the pic. the suspension will sit differently when on the floor.

just had a thought...

is there any difference between a EP82 adjustable panhard rod n a EP91 one?

...think my one is off mak-turbo's EP82.

im 99% sure they are identical. but as others have said. all cars are different so the length would probably need to be different slightly either way

I snapped/lost a panhard rod bolt on my whiteline bar. Wow was I surprised. I was going about 45mph and when I hit thisdip (not a bump or anything violent like that and I have taken this road at much faster many times) nstantly my rear end started fish tailing like I was flooring it in a rwd car but I had full traction. Its hard to explain because I was driving but it felt like the wheels in the rear and the body where no longer attached. I got out my car and looked at stuff and couldnt see anything wrong. Got back in started driving and it started with the fish tailing lik-ness at around 20mph. Since I was just a block or 2 from my house I just cruised at like 5. In the morning I got under the car and inspected to find that my passenger side panhard rod bolt wasnt there. Idk if it snapped or just worked its way out.

Fun times.
