I have made several posts on this site and the post count remains on 3, can we have some clarification to why this is or is there a problem with forums? There are also other forum users with the same problems....

(edit now on 4)

Does the post count only go up on certain forums?

On the old forum I was above the 50 post count and before the forum was changed I wanted to post an item in the parts for sale forum, but thought it best to wait until the change over was done, now I have to get over a 100!!!

Personally imo if you pay to join the site you should be able to sell on the forum and especially if your an old TGTT forum user who had an acceptable post count on the old forum.

Can this be sorted please?

thanks
Kev

Hey Kev, your posts only count in certain forums mate. It'll take away a lot of the spam hopefully and keep the site more focused.

The postcount level is 50. It's just stated wrong in the forum description - we had originally planned to make it 100 but that idea was abandoned. Yet another little niggle that escaped us in the switch. I'll correct it asap.

Post counts are going to be updated as soon as possible.

Regards,

Jay

ok thanks for clearing that up a bit.

but what forums are not counting towards the post counts? because if it's only technical posts made in Modification/ Technical Questions forums and few others, then it could take members a long time to reach even 50 posts.

I see my post count is going up here, but really is there that much difference posting in a general chat forum, I can understand you want to stop people spamming the boards, but you'll still have members posting crap lol! it's just part of people using forums.

It's an approach that we would like to try. Anything is worth a shot.

Previously the only thing a newbie had to rely on was what postcount a member had. If that member had posted 300 jokes in the chillout room and 10 in the techie sections there was little way to tell.

Might help. Might not. We'll see.

Hopefully we can activate the reputationometer and sort it that way.

not being funny, but that just makes me want to post in the forums that count, especially if there are restricted parts of the site...

why have a post counts if posts aren't counted?

and yea, reputation is the way to do it :) then have posts counted everywhere...

cant remember off the top of my head mate.

The reason being is that people actually have to contribute to earn post count.

Normaly people only want to reach 50 so they can sell something.. if that was the case they could sit in the chillout area and type replies like "haha" "yes" "no" "great" "lol" all day get their 50 posts and rip someone off.

This way they actually have to contribute to other parts of the site.

why in Gods name do you want your post count up? All in good time my good buddy, its whats said that counts rather than how manys times you say something! hence I dont have a high post count :p

stop the wh0r3-ing forthwith and avoid embarassment like below lol!
