Good man Dave. You just do this:

BHP (e.g. 200) x Weight (e.g, 800KG) divided by 1000 (1000kg in a tonne) and there you go.

Starlets are all about power to weight ratio ;)

Sure does Kelly, it's all good and well having 500hp but if the car ways 2 tonnes then it's not going anywhere :p Ours will be more than Ferrari F50 when it's done ;)

Not all about power to weight ratio though... maybe on acceleration but not top end pull.... thats when torque/dispalcement kicks in... a 1.3 with a very good power to weight ration will be super fast until a point, then after that move over for the bigger cars...... (providing they have good power too obviously...... and im talking high speeds here.....

end of the day tho when in a race do you ever use that kinda high speed?

unless your on a motorway but then its pretty foolish to be doing that sorta speed

You also need to take into consideration...

  • Torque
  • Traction
  • Drivetrain
  • Driver skill

Power to weight is a good one though. Starlets shock a good number of people. :D
