Pre-ordering games

Hi guys,

I used to be one for pre-ordering games from places like amazon,play.com etc but the other night I cancelled two of my pre-orders from amazon(dead space and fallout3).

Why??

I could get dead space at my local asda for exactly the same price as amazon. Coupled with the fact that I opted for saver delivery last time I ordered with amazon and it arrived 2 days later than the realease date.

I just dont think thats acceptable anymore, especially when the price is the same as my local supermarket!

I guess i want to know, do you guys pre-order? and why?

I understand the case of perhaps limited editions etc, free stuff bundled in with the game(t-shirt,soundtract, silly wee toy).
But when i was gonna pre-order MGS4 i had the option of buying 30 quid extra and nearly did take it, but then i thought what the hell am i paying for??
Im only really getting stuff that im never gonna use!:freddy:

yeah i normally pre order from Amazon, but i do find that you receive it on the release date.

I ordered the ltd edition of Halo 3, and got the scratched disc version (they were loose in a tin). I was not happy and waited about 8 weeks for a new copy from Microsoft which is crazy, although they did send me an extra Halo 3 game disc lol, i gave to my mate.

I still order online because it suits me better having it delivered to my home, I dont have lots of stores where I live, and I cant be arsed going into town at weekends for stuff all the time.

But agree with you there, the pricing is not as good as it used to be, amazon could do better with pricing on games.

Yeah thats the point guys, i mean you used to save buying online. Games would be 30,32 or 35 quid. So you'd save a small amount

These days all games seem to be 39.99 regardless of online, store or not.

An exception to this is game, who seem to charge 50 quid for some games, rip off! But if you pay that price for a game your a bit of a mug.
I was gona spend 150 quid on games over the next few months online, im gonna spend it with cash at my local store now:p. This gives me peace of mind as I know il get it on the day of realease, i.e my lunch break.

ADA- Your right, i mean i havnt heard of a game selling out in ages. I doubt it'l happend again. Well perhaps for a wii, although I dont really class that as a games console anymore:cool:

pre order of game.co.uk

they always deliver ON TIME, never had 1 game late, infact with pre order games they actually arrive a day early, i got fifa on the thursday when it was released on friday.

there well priced and its just alot easier, i dont have time in the working day to go to the shops and get it, so i just get it delivered for free in morning post.

Only thing i've ever pre-ordered was GTA4 from GameStation cos they bundled 800 MS Points in with it. Had a nice little queue up at 1 in the morning for that but was soooo worth it, cos GTA4 rules lol

why would u use amazon? i jsut use it for game referanceing as its better than play.com

but the fact that play has free shipping & cheaper prices makes the difference :D always used play.com when pre-ordering & get them about 10euros cheaper than what i can get them for in malta :)
