R888s on daily driver?? Or not?

I need some new tyres for my car and thinking of saving for some r888 does anyone on here use them on a car daily driven? I know them don't last as long as normal tyres!

Or I can get some yokohama parada spec 2 for £43 a corner!

Which should I go for?

I've never used r888's, but I can definitely vouch for the spec II's, all I used on both of my GT's and I think they were a great mix of wet/dry performance (I didn't have a set of wheens for each season!)

I plan to continue getting them once my GT is back.

Im not talking from personal experience, just from what friends have told me that the R888's are crap in the wet. You could go for Toyo R1R's here are some reviews of them

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Toyo/R1R.htm

x2 going for these myself on the track car, as northern irelands weather tends to be on the damp side most of the time

although for road use, I would say they may wear quicker than paradas

also are you really going to use the full potential of your tyres on the road? probably not, so there isnt really any need to be buying £110+ tyres for each wheel... if I were you I would stick to the decent road tyres, like paradas, T1-R, R-1R, potenzas etc

R888 wont last long on the road, regardless how you drive! :haha:
They are not that bad in the wet, yes thee not the best, but not as bad as people make out.

Daily drive i would opt for the PSII, cheaper and wont wear out as quick!

i personally found the parada spec 2's rubbish in the rain, yes they were very good in the dry but absolutely crap in the rain. then changed to toyo t1-r and found them to be a much better overall tyre, good in the dry and rain

I've recently gone over to advan ad08's and are awesome as a road tyre and gives amazing grip in the dry but not to bad in the wet either

888 not the best for daily running,

Reasons
wear isnt justifiable.
road noise is increased alot.
wet conditions when tyre cold cant cause slight loss of grip

though your paradas youve said yeah brill tyre in dry but wet sorry cant praise them.

Try Dunlop Fast Response - not that expensive and very good in any conditions, even driven on the snow! Also they claim to be one of the best tyre with dry braking and aqua planning resistance! I use them all the time and never had any problems and yeah they will outlast 2 sets of Toyo - that's for sure.
