re-using crank after it threw rod??

can i re-use the crank from my engine that just threw a rod due to piston crumbling.

just because it was polished and had new shells and its only done 500 mile till it went bang.

the big end is still attached and in 1 piece.

or is this risky?

have an engineer check it out... my main concern would be balancing issues... possible hairline fractures... but its possible that it would be untouched as well...

cheers kon. il send it in with the block to get it checked over. if not il just get another crank and new shells.
