Okay so, I havent had a little moan in a while but this one is just on my mind and is starting to bug me. REALITY TV.

As far as I can tell this started off in a big way with Big Brother a few years ago. I never got it at all and never bothered watching it, I didnt see the point in watching other people doing very little, it all seemed a bit boring. I wasnt particularly old at that stage and so I do not think this is me turning in to a grumpy old bastard.

A few years ago all of the writers in Hollywood went on strike and there was no one to write episodes of popular TV shows. This is when reality tv sprung to life in a big way. There was an explosion of programmes about nothing in particular. Jon and Kate plus eight? Jersey Shore? Rock of Love? Flava of Love? etc etc etc... its just non-stop.

Why do we need lots of reality TV shows about small people? little people big world? the little couple? pit boss? what is that attraction to little people? Their lives are not particularly interesting.

Have peoples lives gotten so boring that they need to watch other peoples lives? And why is it called reality TV? there is nothing real about it. It is all so scripted.

I like watching documentaries on various peoples lives, interesting people who have achieved something or are famous/infamous for something but what is the deal with people who are not famous for anything being on TV all the time?

exactly man... I mean its so scripted and acted and some people think it is real. Some people tune in to watch it every week.. surely peoples lives cant be so boring.

my gf and friend are glued to most of them every week.. i mean "the hills" is so fake its unreal and to make it worse the acting is puke.. like everything else, its a money racket.. take "hogan knows best" for instance.. hes wrestling career was over so he decided to make a reality tv show with his family in it.. now his daughter is a famous model and hes merchendise has probably doubled since its been on... geene simmons started out as a biography but then he noticed the stats were through the roof so hes another that made a reality tv show wich made him many more millions.. its sickening really but i guess the real reality never affects these people

there was only two shows i ever liked which was the pickup artist and the ultimate fighter which weren't bad for what they were but the rest of the shit that does be on, if we were invaded by rock and roll lovin aliens what would they think of us? a bunch of panzys and im not going out a panzy

In the same boat. I honestly can't watch "reality" TV, it fucks my head up to the point that I actually need beer to resume a normal existance.

It's all a load of bollocks, how can "little person, big world" really influence any fucking decision I'm about to make? The same with big brother etc, yes people think it's entertaining, but in reality it's not. It's full of knobs acting up to a camera to win a prize........

If's its so real, where the fuck is my prize? I've had to live in a house full of annoying bastards, and I never got £100K after it!

Fuck that.

My Idea of reality TV is usually yer man mark evans on a 4 x 4 is born, or a racing car is born etc.....

But hey!

agree with yas there! discovery channels are class only "discovered" them like a year ago!but then again some people would think we are watching awful shite too!

big brother = shit, was meant too be the last ever one today according too my missus, an ive just been told there doing another 2 weeks of the shit. what pisses me of the most is them hollywood writers etc, stopped making the popular shows that people actually wanted too see, an leavin them 1/2 way through a series.

i wouldn mind if it was decent too watch. who wants too watch wife swap? seriously wtf us blokes watch telly too get away from naggin wifes/girlfriends lol, an dont get me started on this im in the jungle bullshit. ahh im gettin wound up now. ill let you lot finish up lol
