Dont you regrind standard things when the bearings go, like the crankshaft? Billet would be aftermarket ones with different specs (high lift, duration etc)
reground cams have metal eaten from the round part of the cam, not the protruding lobe. so, you readjust the tolerances by changing the shims on the buckets, and when the valve opens, you have more lift. this poses a problem on high lift reground cams which will need fabrications on the shims and buckets cause toyota shims dont go so high in thickness...
the pros of a billet cam is more reliability and no need to readjust the shims for higher lift, just the usual adjustment for good tolerances.
theres also the risk of reprofled cams eating themselves to death... iv seen way to many sets of reprofiled cams go wrong here in malta... the oem cams have a hardner coating on them, once reprofiled they come much softer than when they where untouched..
personally id either go for 5e-fhe or some billet cams as its not worth the risk of having to take the engine apart from top to bottom & change many things from the sump up....

oi hybrid. do those that have gone bad had cruise valvesprings? do you think there's a pattern? im undecided about leaving the cruise springs on , cause they are so damn hard!
