removing cam gear on billet cams

how can i remove the cam gear? timing belt is off, is there a way to lock the cams in place?

Can you not hold them on the hex in the middle of the cam like OE cams or do the billet don't have the hex on the cam?
In these pictures you can see the hex clearly in the middle. You want to hold it there

billet doesn't have the hex part.
also should the service bolt on the inlet cam go straight through when the cams are in place, as currently the service bolt hole doesn't line up on the inlet gears. do i need to remove the cams and re-tension the inlet gear?

Not to sure on the service bolt.
Hold the cam with a "monkey wrench" if space allows it
Or you can use a tool that you use on the cam pulley.
You can easily make this with flat iron

Service bolt should go through.
Use soft jaws in a vice and grip it lightly.

i believe the cams are from greece, they don't have the hex part. i managed to remove it now anyway. thanks for the help.
