Heya, just wondering has anyone ever made there own rollcage if so how hard was it, and what type of metal/steel did you use? if possible can some people put some pictures up of there own rollcages and how there mounted....Would I be right in saying you can get bolt in a weld in?

Rep will be awarded :D
(didnt know wether to put this is the modification section or not, sorry if its in the wrong place, its more just asking for pictures/info than a solution... :) )

you can get both bolt in and weld in cages. usually you will find bolt in cages are used for general fast road track cars

as for making your own i suppose its how handy you are with that kind of work! personally i wouldnt attempt it but i dont suppose it will be to hard. just need to make sure you use the correct grade of metal, last thing you want in a crash is the metal to splinter ect.

if u haver a pipe bender mate and you know the sizes there is no reason y not if some one else is going to weld it for you, also an inch of weld will hold a metric ton so even crap welds will hold.

if its just for looks then search for a show cage, they are alot cheaper than the ready made purpose built cages

I hope you drive around wearing a helmet cause that cage is going to do some serious injury to your head if you ever crash. You ever smacked your head really hard against a pillar during a crash? It hurts and you have gone and stuck a great big pole infront of it. Nice...

I would like to argue that it is just as likely that you would bang your head on the door frame.

Its all alot softer than a great big pole though. On a more serious note I have banged my head up pretty badly in a crash before from my head bouncing off the roof and pillars etc, if I had an unpadded rollcage and not wearing a helmet I would probably be dead.

Bucket seats and harnesses would stop this problem though.

Your right, my steel door frame is practically a pillow compared to steel tubing.

Dont worry new seats are next on the list as i have just bought rails...

As for your eyesight it sucks, there is half an inch of neoprene padding on the seperate parts douchebag.

Also i would still rather have the cage in, in the event of a crash, bucket seats or not. starlets are made of smart price tin foil, the carbon steel cage might make my chance of survival 1% greater.

As for helmets... i have to sit at a funny angle when i wear one as my helmet is on the cage! :(
