Rotate TD/VF Turbo

SKINY

Lifer
Really easy Bud, ideally on the bench.
Take the big circlip holding the comp house on then careful remove it. You will see a wee stud poking out used to locate the house, simply pull that out and refit the house then rotate to where you need it.
My 035 was allready done and its easy turned when the clip is loose

the exhaust side is similar...some turbos have a location pin, some dont,,,i cant remember on the td04l or vf servies
...remove the clamp, you may need to spray the joint area with wd40 to help loosen it
sometimes they come off easily, sometimes they need force, sometimes they need heat
whatever you do, be careful not to damage the turbine fins

Quick update:
I managed to get there in the end..without damaging any fins thankfully.
Couple of question. What sealant do I use to refit the cold side housing?
Also as you said @gorganl2000 there was a location pin on the exhaust side. I obviously need to remove this pin to rotate the turbo but is it not used, to also hold the carriage in place?

i used no sealant on the compressor side when reassembling

on the exhaust side, we either pulled out the locating pin or angle grinded it away---it was along time ago, but i somehow think it pulls out with a pliers...the turbine housing and the center section are held in place by the clamp/bolt

now you will be able to rotate both side easily to get the perfect set up

Awesome. Thankyou.
I jus assumed because there was red sealant on the compressor side, that it would need fresh sealant when I reassemble it.
