rounded mani nuts

Still too big to hammer on a 13, if I get a but welded on I still can't get at it from the right angle, and I don't really wanna cut the stud. Best thing is the vice grips if I can get enough leverage on it. Soon find out after dinner.

a word of caution if you have to go down the cut-the-studs-off route, leave some bit of the stud so that you will still be able to get some leverage on it. if you cut too close to the block, you may not be able to easily get the remnants off...

The nut is up against the flange of the manifold not the head, there will be the thickness of the mani flange left on the stud. Anyway, if he didnt cut it through the base of the nut, the nut would still be on and he would have achieved nothing.

Woohoo! I beat the bastard! Gonna have to keep it as a reminder! I'll put it on a neckless to remind me to stay the hell away from cars! So got the mani and turbo on, power steering pump back on, just need to attach water lines and oil feed, and bleed the water system. The off to get ready for mot.

@weeJohn: i hear you on that one. what i had in mind was that once he'd set his mind to cutting, in order not to damage the mani too much from cutting, he'd just cut maybe 2mm off the flange coz at that distance, he'd proli be able to bang and hammer the remaining fragments and they'd just fall away thus helping him preserve his mani flange. no one likes (hacksaw) blade scuff marks.. :haha:

I beat and beat and beat a 13mm spanner on, put alot of pressure on it and hear a creak, so beat it back of and beat on a ratchet spanned, job done. So got the car out for a run last night. So it's going in next week to get set up and mot prepped. While it's in I'll see if he will lend me one of his r33 or r34 gtr skylines. Lol
