rx-7 topmount or front mount intercooler ?

probably been asked 1 million times , and also probably a stupid question .. however .. which one should i go for ? running a ct9 .. will be getting fcd asap and have an adjustable actuator so will be upping the boost to 1.0 bar . which should i get ? have seen a rx-7 topmount on ebay for 160 quid . is this very expensive or the correct price ?

Front mount everyday of the week. The increase in lag is barely noticeable, and its more good for your engine with cooler intake temps. For that price you can probably get a good FMIC kit :)

Arc TMIC go for that money these days, with a TMIC and all the fittings 5-10mins and has it fitted.
The FMIC should give lower intake temps compared to the TMIC as there isn't as much heat soak, but fittting one usually requires bumper modification and in some cases a/c removal.

so a front mount will get more gains because of the cold air .. but the slightest bit of lag wont make much of a difference then ? sounds good . must get on the ball and get one sorted . thanks men

FMIC all the way! I had an FMIC on my GT, was great but I was always curious how an RX7 topmount would perform so....on my current Glanza I tried it out with a CT9 hybrid setup. On the road I noticed minimal increses in response over FMIC...when I got it dyno'd it made 197bhp on first run and subsequent runs it made 193, than 187 etc etc from the heatsoak. My tuner said if I had had an FMIC that day we would have seen 215-220bhp. On the road I noticed if you constantly boost it..heatsoak eventually kicks in and bogs the car down a little. I will be going back to FMIC when I get back to my car..Hope this helps pal!

p.s minimal lag on FMIC...trust me! :)

top work cheers lad . so theres a good power difference in them also .. sounds like front mount is the business .. mean looking bit of metal till have stuck in the middle of the bumper . anyone recommend a front mount ? would prefer one second hand from 100 quid to 150 quid ? or new up to 200 quid

No problem pal. Take a look at the parts for sale section - quite a few used ones around the 150GBP mark :) New - you can get EBAY ones for about 225 -250
