hi, i`am thinking about to pimp my oem actuator. plan is to cut actuator-rodr and fix an thread bolt. so the length could be adjusted...would be same like hks once??? But dont know if an HKS one also got stronger springs in the actuator. Dont know how an actuator looks inside...

THE NEW ROD HAVE TO BE SHORTTER FOR MORE BOOST?????

the hks has a stronger spring inside, also there is a diaphragm and on the oem one it could be weak from age and just rip under the higher pressure.

hks has stronger spring mate, plus the oem ones become weak over time...its not a bad idea but id just buy a hks actuator:)

when i removed my oem act i could easily push it in and out whereas my hks was hella stifffff

edit beaten to it lol....^^what he said

my oem one only makes 0,5 bar without solenoid. never got more, think its old and in no good condition. and in germay couldnt find upgrade once. so i have to import:(

i did this in my early gt days, worked pretty good once using a decent OEM one......not good for too much boost tho but will hold 12-13 psi easy

if you can do it for free have a go. i may try it. depends how easy it is to split and then re-attach the two halves of the actuator to change the spring

12-13 psi are about 0,8-0,9 bar would be much enougth for my 4efe inerials. dont want to kill my engine now. forged one is planed next year

think the springs never can be changed without damaging...only the rod can be pimped...THE NEW ROD HAVE TO BE SHORTTER FOR MORE BOOST?????

you cant just shorten the arm and thats it. its an actuator which means it moves back and forth, with a shit spring it wont do so or hold in position.

if you just shorten the arm, youll put the shitty spring under tension which is pointless

as fur stated.....it works (cutting stock actuator and making it like HKS one,,,depending on how good/worn the oem actuator is)

the shims also work....but u have to be patient to get it where u want it

the spring method also works----BUT is noted to be unstable...i never liked the idea:)

a friend of mine did the same thing BUT used a ford transit actuator.. much stronger! easy to source and cheap

now here's a thought
if u have the time and u can get hold of a tdo4l actuator....seeing as u like to do stuff yourself----u can put the tdo4l actuator on to the ct9 actuator bracket and have the best of both worlds------or just custom make a bracket to hold the tdo4l actuator

or also use a ct12 actuator.

just use 2 washers to shim up and down. or jsut do the trial and error and method.

im using it now. its a cheap alternative to an expensive hks actuator
