Side exit exhaust

Might have been asked before, couldn't find it in the search.

Would a side exit be better than a normal cat back exhaust on a stock GT (no mods) 1st mod will be the exhaust.

Like which would be better for performance?

Is it worth having a side exit on a CT9?

Eventually i will go Hybrid with side exit i just wonder if its worth having a side exit from standard.

might suffer boost creep with less restrictions but hell its worth a try!

yeah you would suffer from boost creep most probably, but will defo increase performance

for performance it will obviously be better, even on a stock car... less restrictions the better....

As starbogt(andrew) said your more then likely need it setting up as the boost creep will be a problem.... Just recently put one on my car and blew my turbo due to it creeping far to much....

how much does the boost have to creep before it breaks sumink?? i mean will it break the first time or is it progressive? is the side exit much louder and do u have it with a box or not??? ... Enright82

if you add a bend/curve or two to the pipe would that minimize creep, does it sound like a tin can?

on mine i have no backbox what so ever... Just a bit of 3inch pipe with one 90degree bend.....

Yes its ridiculously loud and i gota say i do love the noise, sounds like a burbling drag car.... really intimidates others hehe....

There is a big thread on "creep" that toby kindly wrote out for everyone...

Oh and its luck of the draw, your turbo could blow quick, may last alot longer then others, all depends.... Mine blew within 40 minutes of creeping 0.15 BAR more then my turbo realistically should be running, then again my turbo is known to be weak (CT20B)....

lee it will sound like a tractor and would be pointless on a ct9,if you wanna make it sound like a tractor go ahead lol id stick to your original plan and get a 2.5" cat back.the front exit would just annoy you after a while,well it would annoy me anyway

dont be fased guys they sound great on ct9 as on any turbo my mates got one and yeah made it spoil quicker and sound LOUD, (no boost creep issues)........... so i dont see why its not worth doing because it will sound like a tractor ? as at least it will still have some serious go at standard better than a cherry bomb on a 1.0l corsa or something eh ?!

I have a front exit on my gt. (Im selling the car now tho)
Its a great mod spool up time is reduced and you have almost instant turbo. As for the sound i think its amazing. Hear a vid of mine.

i bought a backbox for a front exit, (50 off ebay,has a bung 2) but can never decide if its practical or not!

i got one on mine....not even got a back box. after Starlet3sgte's experience I think I may well get a back box on there now! not had her out with it on yet tho - cant wait to hear it.

if you get boost creep, it has nothing to do with the exhaust. the wastegate setup is the problem. i run a straight 3" front exit exaust at the drags with no issue. then again it isnt a stock turbo!

Mine will be on a standard CT9.

So a few bends will help from getting boost creep.

Would a backbox on it also help?
