Yes they are legal providing they don't stick out too much with sharp edges, aren't too loud etc,
Just look at lorries and buses they rock side exits!!

hi guys

sorry to bring up and old thread but ive been looking all morning and cant find anything on it.

I have a front exit out of the passenger side infront of the wheel. The set up is a pipe straight from the turbo to a bike can, i only have the tip sticking out of the bumper.

Is this illegal?
Im running a td05 18g, if i went back to my wepr 2.5 inch system would i notice much in lag or power? as im having remapped soon and would want to get it sorted before its mapped.

Many thanks

Sam

i dont no the law so dont take this as gospel, but i thought you can have a side exit but i thought it had to come out the off side (ie the drivers side) so its not pointing towards the kerb.

hope fully some one can anwser this but defenetly something to watch out for.

Sam when I put my side exit on I noticed a big difference in spool time as I was running a wepr exhaust before. With regards to law iv never heard of it having to be behind the front wheel only the issue with how loud it is, but i found its no louder than a normal exhaust just sounds louder because its so close to you. Iv been stopped several times and not had a problem plus passes mot. With regards to which side the exhaust has to point iv heard rumours about it but no writing stating were an exhaust must point.

I had a stupidly loud side exit bike can coming out of the passenger side of the front bumper. Never had any problems with mr plod. My window tints caused more problems than my exhaust.
