Soft brake pedal, longer travelling distance

Hi

Quick one, symptoms:

  • Softer brake pedal feel
  • Longer pedal travel and braking distance
  • Brake fluid reservoir looks normal, no leaks

Notice my grooved discs are down to almost no groove, just wondering with red stuff pads, if they become glazed (pads and discs) will this have the same effect? Also have braided lines, no recent brake part changes anywhere.

Or is the master cylinder not working? Its on 1996 V.

I was going to order new pads and discs for the front and start fresh.

cheers

Stu

Brakes may need a bleed? try that first just in case any air has got in.

From what you've said there I noticed a similar feeling when my 3G's started to lose their grooves on the front.

If replacing the fluid and bleeding properly doesn't sort it then it's likely to be the master cylinder seals. Do you have any crud in the reservoir, particularly black bits?

Hi all, well I bled all the brakes tonight using single person bleed container, saw a few big bubbles come out on fronts and some on rear... put it all back together and the brakes are working now :D

How'd they get in there?!

Thanks all again for great advice!
