Some Macro Photos

I thought I would give macro photography a shot but I didnt want to shell out hundreds on a macro lens so I bought a 10 X magnification fllter for the kit lens. It cost about $20 or so and gives pretty good results.

some hardcore looking stuff man, noticed ur using a nikon (traitor :haha: ) which one is it? iv just bought emma a sigma 18~250mm lens kit for the canon 450d.. macro's are still not as close as id like them to be though.. could u be able to find a magnifier which hooks onto a cannon fitment?

keep up the good work!!

haha yeah Kon took a while to decide between canon or nikon but when I went to the shop and held them both I immediately went for the nikon.

Those pics above are just the first few I took while playing around with that magnification filter, I bet a real macro lens would deliver amazing results but the one I was looking at was 800 quid and to be honest the amount of use I would get from it I couldnt justify it, I would prefer a wider angle lens than I have now if I was going to fork out on a lens.

I got a 75 - 200mm lens last year, its a beast and the magnification and clarity are excellent but I didnt use that for the shots above I just used the small kit lens that came with the camera and got a 10 X magnification filter. You can pick them up anywhere that stocks camera equipment. Just tell them what diameter the lens you are going to attach it to is and they will get you the right one. You will need a good tripod too so you can set up what you are going to shoot as the slightest movement when shooting small items can make a big difference.

Oh and yes thats a pin up the bees arse.
