coaxial are speakers that are "2 way" or "3 way" etc.
they have a main cone and also a smaller speaker(s), all mounted as one unit.
so 2 way would be a main cone, and a much smaller speaker mounted with it, usually infront.

heres a 5 way speaker, count all the different cones you can see

component speakers are a set of speakers which have a main cone, but the smaller speakers is seperate.
usually only sold with a main cone and a single "tweeter", and usually a "crossover/x-over".

heres a set, complete with x-over

you can see the main 2 speakers, the 2 smaller tweeters, and the 2 boxes are the x-overs.

the x-overs are used to split the signal into different frequncies.

the bigger cone will be suited to lower frequncies, whereas the tweeters will be better suited to higher frequncies.

the advantage of having seperate tweeters is that you can mount them on the dash instead of in the door with the main cone.
unless your mad into sounds and gonna do a big install, coaxial speakers are fine

ok thanks, do they both produce every type of sound like vocal, treble, mid and bass or are there just specific ones as i know a subwoofer only allows bass and nothing else the reason i ask is because i want to install some in the parcel shelf and 6x9's wont fit as my sub would be in the way so which type should i get??

thats where the frequncies come into it.

all speakers will list their ideal frequency.

if a song has a really low frequency(bass), it may struggle with it as its trying to also play mid freqncies.

a sub cannot play high frequency because it phyiscally cannot move quick enough to produce the higher freq sounds.

likewise a smaller speaker, while it can move fast enough for high freq sounds, to produce bass it must move alot of air, but as it is only small, cannot do this and hence no bass.

generally 6x9 should only be used if you dont wanna put a sub in, as the 6x9 would be sufficient to please avg. joe's ear drums.

another thing to look at it power ratings, not just frequency. a speaker might have the range you want, but if your radio isnt up to powering it, you'll have no volume

Has anyone replaced the small front speakers in the dash of their EP91 (Glanza V) with better quality/power ones?
