The signs are there to warn you that there are mobile speed camera vans operating in the area lad there obviously working though as people are slowing down when they see the signs

I don't know about in the UK but they do not have camera's built into them in the Rep. of Ireland. As kellygt says, they are just signs warning you that its an area that the mobile speed cameras are used.
