Speedo cable removal?

Hi all, currently in the process of removing my 4efe engine and box but i'm a little stuck right now. Sorry to sound a bit thick, but how do you remove the speedo cable from the gearbox end? I have tried to spin it but it wants to retract itself back and i do want to cause damage to it.

Just unscrews. It can be a bit fiddly if it hasn't been off for a while (or ever).

Once it gets moving, it should be fine

I've had to resort to using vice grips on them before, they can get seized on there quite handy.

I couldn't get it off and I was running out of rental time that day had to cut it with a hacksaw and wish I hadn't now because I need a replacement.
