Has any one used the standard size pistons in there forge build, i was thinking of using a low mileage 4efe for the job so i can keep my stock as a spare, i dont mind going the next size up along with a rebore, what are your thoughts on this.
Most of the people who had gone for a 74mm forged build did encounter some issues regarding bore clearance/tolerances. If my memory serves me right [was a while back] it was agreed that its better to go for a 74.5mm overbore. As a fresh rebore with new rings gives a better sealing of rings rather than a 'used' bore with new rings.
Yeah the last thing i want is rings sealing bad, a fresh bore for new rings sounds better, i was thinking a low mileage 4efe would of had an easy life and the bores would be in good shape.
The correct hone job will take material away of the 74mm bore and probably take it our of spec.
If you spend the money on forged pistons then its rather a must to have a perfect bore for them
PS: Wiseco has good P2W clearances
True, until u rub off the bore numbers the machiene man put on the pistons lol, happened a friend when we where building his sr20det we got it sorted do, i think i will go the next size up, why sell the 74mm people must use them.
