Yes you can but not lowered too much .coilovers is the better way.
Just make sure Ethan is not too low or you'll have rubbing issues . Which wheels you looking to buy also try not stretch tyres to much 195/45 is ok for 8js good luck there's loads of wheels to choose from ....

I had borbet A's on my old Glanza 15x8 ET 10 and they sat just right so ET 0 would need arches slightly rolled. That what offset and width I'm going for.
 
Have d2 coilovers at the moment these were what i was thinking

sorry are they orignals because theres some serious pot holes in an around all areas from the snow we had previously.get rotas originals for same money with out tyres and youll get bored of them but hey each to there own gets some guys on here to show some different styles and widths performance matters though will change in widths and sizes 16 15 usally best.....
 
Going to go for the 15" 7j et20 i think as they shud be a better fit, cant decide wheather to go for bronze or silver with polished lip tho hmmm
