Strange Smoking, help please

had my new hybrid fitted a few months now and my cars started smoking again, i thought it was the turbo, because it was nearly the same as last time when the turbo was shot. It's in the garage at the moment because the guy wanted to check out the turbo before he sent it back off.

now is the strange part, phoned him to see how he was getting on and he says turbo looks clean as a whistle, took it for a spin and it's not smoking for him, said he left it idling for like 45mins gave it a rev and nothing...

now 1 question, is it possible it could be smoking a bit running rich? had it dyno'd and it was running rich, 0.6bar on hybrid on std fueling.

what smoke are you getting
is it
white/grey could be water or oil burnt in the exhaust suggesting turbo seals usually
blue constantly would be rings
blue on overun and gear change would be valve stem seals
black is just unburnt fuel never really something to worry about

these are just the most common outcomes may be some thing else or even nothing mate

it's bluey and stinks, smells like burnt oil to me.

exactly like when my turbo went first time, just not as bad.

done compression test btw and that was fine.

it doesnt smoke all the time either, but when it does usually does it on overun after some boost.

ok, so

you need a large valve stem compressor
some long nosed pliers
a 10mm socket
some grease
a magnet

OK
compress the valve spring and remove the collets with the magnet. DONT loose them ur fucked if u do
Remove spring and plate
push the valve out. DONT drop it
with the pliers grab the very top of the valve stem seal tightly and wiggle and pull till she pops off. pay attention the the inner detail of the seal as exhaust and inlet are slightly different and toyota dont distinguish which is which. ARSE
lower the new seal on to the seat and with a 10mm gently puch down nice and square you will hear a small click or feel it. dont push too hard
clean up your valve gently and then grease the slut up and pop it back through the head.
replace spring plate and compress it all before inserting the collets and releasing
job done
not as easy and this though very findly and time consuming at times

owen
ps. this was quick if u want more details on it i will do a guide with photos at some point
