Td04 with standard engine..

Here's a stock manifold with a subaru flange welded on. This particular manifold ran 245whp for a couple of years with zero issues. Car got upgraded in many areas after that and manifold was replaced with a tubular one with an external wastegate. So yep, it'll work and it won't blow up if you tune it right :)

Boost doesn't kill engines, shitty tunes kill engines. Glanza that the manifold came off was running 1.5bar or so from memory.

ok so if i get a gt35 and wack it at 2 bar on a standard engine and get a motec on it then it will be fine ???

dont think so

I don't see why not. Its det which kills engines, revs bend rods.

Forged parts just make it more able to take det and revs, if its a shit tune a forged engine can just stand a bit more det than a std. But they can still be killed.

If it doesn't det then it will be fine.

In regard to the GT35 comment I dont see why not.

Higher octane fuel, decent map and away to go, at the end of the day people over in the US have seen 350whp on a stock motor

Exactly sparky, everywhere else manages it.

I've been sorting out my set up with some advice from some good friends of mine in the carribean, and don't see why it won't work.

Just trying to find someone competent enough to map it is the problem.

Its not like the td04 turbo is a gold plated 1000psi producing turbo. You will NOT get the best performance of a td04 turbo if you still retain the standard ecu. Its pointless fitting a upgraded turbo without supporting essential items. Sure, you will get better turbo performance, but not 100% of what is required for the ideal configuration. You will get only so much performance with standard items.

Like i have mentuioned in another thread, i only use the standard ecu for its fuel economy, thats all.

if you want to do a td04 conversion without forging the internals...u can handle 1 bar of boost....u need a td04 mani, decat, fpr, civic rad,nd frontmount etc...but u should service the engine first, then do handling and braking then do the td04 ....and wen ya have abit of cash together and want more power u can forge the internals and be runnin 250-290bhp at 1.2 bar boost..??...................
