What rads are most people using on there td04 set ups?

Im having trouble with cooling at the moment and im thinking the rad could be to small as its only a single core rad? would prefer to try this be for ripping the head off to replace the gasket lol Only seems to happen when i come on boost when presure builds up and poors out into the overflow tank and pops the cap off! also using a 0.9bar rad cap would this make a differance?

Rep will be added thanks sam!

I suppose you are using civic rad.single core rad may be the cause to your problem.please try bleeding air from the system by unscrew the bolt just on the thermostat housing and check again.

Got a new thermostat, put it in! still the same, ended up taking the thermostat out altogether to see what its like with incressed flow? still the same! And i bled the systems for airlocks still the same!!

sounds like your head gasket may be on its way out

get it tested

what condition is your radiator in?...maybe block radiator core?....if its a relatively new radiator, then it points back to your h/gasket

the civic rad needs to be a minimum of 40mm thick otherwise it wont cool effectively.
so check thermostat and blockages like others have said,
but also measure the rad thickness less then 40mm, then buy a new one dual core civic and it be fine.

rad looks ok, i would say about 8 months old? took the rad out and flushed it all through! done a die test for the head gasket aswell, and it came out fine?? not sure what to doo now?? also when it starts to heat up after running for a while as soon as you come on boost it sputters and pops and throws a cloud of black smoke out the back?

black smoke, sounds fuel related like over fuelling.
cant see why that would over heat due to that.
like i say tho mate, the rad thickness is important on civic rads, needs to be 40mm thick or over.
