td05 spool times?

Is there a post about this already? If so can someone point me in the direction of it or can some one give me an estimate of when a tdo5 will spool up? Running a forged 4e with possibly an apexi power fc and hks evc boost controller if that helps speed up spool time. Also what difference is there between the 14g,16g etc turbos?

Any help appreciated guys.

Anyone using one of Dave B's roller bearing TD05's? Would love to know what boost and by when can be achieved on one of those.

Surely it depends what you run as "full boost"? If its only set up at 1bar then yeah why not, but I'm sure most that buy them will run alot more than that.

Sorry for the thread hijack btw!

Idd be very very suprised if a decent sized TD05 will create 1 bar by 4k on a 1300cc enginer without some serious lean burn mapping.

The 14g signifies the size of the compressor wheel i.e. a 16g wheel will flow a larger CFM of air than a 14g wheel, the exhaust housing and exhaust turbine wheel make the largest influence on spool, smaller generally meaning quicker spool and larger longer spool but more overall output at higher rpm.

greddy td05 16g ,power fc not forged was running 1bar at 4k

well...the greddy unit is not the typical td05 either:haha:...so it may be quite possible,

while the usual td05 may net varying spool results depending on your engine build, specs, etc...

spool up and the planned level of boost will vary somewhat from one user to another based on set up

i ran a td05h 16g from an evo on my last gt, stock engine 1 bar boost, i had full boost by about 4.5k maybe a tad more and it came in very strong. it was mental on boost pulled hard right to the red line.
im also thinking of getting one of those roller bearing td05's from dave i would like to hear how someone gets on with one first though, and some graphs would be nice.

depends on drivability and what you want...
i have a TD05 16G and 20G but not in my starlet ..in my old MAZDA mx6 gd.
The 2.0l 16v engine makes 1.4 boost at 3.5k..The 16g spools better but top end power is better wit the 20G.I reduce the lag of the 20g by changing the timing cam on the FE3N engine and give the engine more advance too..
i doubt on a small 1.3liter engine we can do the same to compensate...:homer:
