Hello

I just bought some tein coilovers 2nd hand and the right hand one needs a service as it is leaking

Does anyone know if there's anywhere that can service them apart from tein?

I'm not trying to avoid them it's just they said they might not be able to service it due to age?

So need to find a plan b as it were

After sales service is very important for performance suspension.
The dampers are a wear and tear item, so no matter what is the make, they will need to be replaced or repair one day.

If there is no service, then you don't really want to risk them because that is no difference than buying old worn tyres.
And if one damper go, the other 3 may not be far off.
So you need to factor in how much they will cost to be refurb, vs getting something brand new with a warranty.

Buying used suspension is fine if it isn't very expensive... but you have to make sure 100% they are serviceable.
Otherwise, you have to treat the suspension as disposable because that is normally what happen as soon as one damper leaks.

Well on tein website they do overhaul in the uk in Milton Keynes, I did get them cheap. It appears that's its just a seal that's gone and causing it to leak

£1200 spent on tein flex coilovers and when the rear topmounts broke and we wanted them serviced I was told it would be cheaper to buy new. Tein aftersales were terrible.

Never again!!

I'll be able to tell you soon, I have some burst rear superstreets (x1) but also have corrosion on the top mounts that has broken off metal work at the top bolts.

I'm going to send them to Tein and see what they say, I have spoken to them already by email with some rough costs, but I'll see what they come back with. A lot of the parts have to come from Japan and theres a cost in doing that as well (ie new top mounts are £90 for the set, only come as two). I need a new a new bump stop on one, and also revalved as its burst. The other works fine but both have corroded top mounts.

It may be cheaper to buy one new one, or just buy a new/used set of coilovers though...

If there tein Ha's the shocks are built into the struts and cant be replaced only with a whole new strut. Cost me £80 just for new support springs.
