as above it seams to have a mind of its own will go up to about half way and randomly go to almost cold thinks its when im going down hill any ideas whats up with it thanks in advance nick

Have you checked all the plugs on the thermostat?

no mate i havent to be honist ive only just got the car getting used to every thing fan still kicks in and that just wondered why its not reading right :S

Be worth checking, I put an engine in mine and got 2 plugs on the thermostat the wrong way round and my gauge was reading boiling hot all the time, hopefully will be something simple like a bad connection

cool cool ill have a look tomorrow see if it is a bad connection could possibly be thermostat ill whip it out and test it

just to bring this back up.. when it goes randomly cold again, put on the heat in the car and if it blows cold air, your thermostat is faulty

used to experienced this before..in my case the thermostat stuck open
