TGTT ... Loss of interest?

True the forums are getting quieter as time moves on but it just makes me appreciate the effort everyone puts in with offering advice and input on threads. I usually find that any questions are answered quite quickly and correctly on here nowadays. There was a time when we'd have 20 posts of idle crap before someone got a proper answer.

Quality not quantity I reckon.

Agreed!! after all the main reason for the forum is to have a collection of useful information.. which bloody hell do we have lol...

The main reason why there is much less traffic is down to social networking websites... like Facebook and Twitter... back in the day tgtt.com used to serve the same purpose lol..

i agree with Jay

i think a lot of the older members are still here and post when necessary
plus some of the younger members seem to be taking up the challenge somewhat in dealing with tech questions
then there is always the search button which yields a ton of info from past experiences

i'm sure TTGT will be ok

same reason as Dan (goldenVtr) really for me, started my own business and moved house etc so the interweb has taken a back seat apart from the occasional check on FB.

but, still have and always will have the car, bigger and better things are always in the pipelline for it but for now just enjoying it as it is!

Now thats an EP I've not seen for quite a while, glad to see it's still running good.

As with anything, people move on, circumstances change, get married, new job, new car. Like a few, mines off the road for the winter undergoing a major overhaul ready for some fun come spring so maybe not as active on here as I usually would.

I don't see many wizzing around my area of late either, just a Glanza parked up in a nearby local village. I did spot a very nice GI in Meadowhall just before Christmas, you don't see many of those around.

A lot of the big power EP's have been broken but I'm sure many are still alive and well, just hibernating for a while.

i think the most true statement is that the old(er) forumites have got a little bored and tired of answering the same ol questions about boost, fuel pressure etc.. :D so there's a lot less activity.. plus, other social media has taken over drastically. maybe TGTT should also set up a facebook page and keep it active. i'm sure it will get a lot more hits there..

Would have to agree, many years ago this site was booming with people, meets all the time etc. maybe the starlets will become cult classics soon and everyone will be buying them!

The market has dropped out of them so they have to be broken to make money. there fore less owners :( not having a big show scene kills of the commitment of some and as befor older member get board of the same questions. social networks fill the gap for idle chitchat and now tgtt is less of a social forum and more of a tech bible!! Younger owners dont want to pay as much for the cars/parts due to the age the cars have got to. its just a shift in all of it. tbh i like how the car is slowly becoming rarer. before it was rare and no one knew what it was now they are rare but people have a little more respect and knowledge about just how much of a weapon in the jap car scene they can be. Cant argue with that surley?

Yes i agree with Shorty, I started my starlet ownership just over 2 years ago and I always came to TGTT for tech advice, but i always found it a bit slack in the banter department. It started off good with the track days meets, but then took a nose dive, what shows did the club goto last year, especially track events?

I now usually spend my time here for tech advice but i socialise in UKSC, its more friendly and they organise stuff for every show in the calendar. Hate to say it but i think TGTT have dropped the ball a bit on that part. Either way though they both have their positives :)

I have to agree, the forum is a lot quieter these days.
A lot of the older members (myself included) don't post much now.
This is also made worse by the decline of the car markets.
However, im on the lookout for a new ep in the next couple of months, as selling mine was the worst thing i ever did.
But rest assured ill be back bigger and better than ever
