My mates Carina E 1.6 4AFE is fucked!
It runs 100% fine when its cold, but when its warm it misfires on the 4th cylinder. Thing is, he is a mechanic, and so is his brother who had the car before him. They've had all their mechanic friends at work look, and no one has any idea at all.
They've tried everything, plugs/leads/coils/roror arm/cap/injectors.. Even plugged it into a Smartbox but that returned "no error" within the system.
Its a coplete mystery to me, and both of them. When it misfires its down on power, feels likes a 1liter diesel or something, its so bad! Its on 158k so quite high, but we just cant figure it out. It stinks of petrol when it misfires. We know its both A. Sparking and B. fueling. He's done several compression checks and its 150 across the lot.
Personally i think it may be a bent valve which when hot, is expanding and sticking.
