So i got a new and old Toyota headgasket out to measure their thickness. I took readings from 12, 3, 6 and 9 O' clock positions on the gaskets bore rings and took the average from the old and new.
Old gasket mean reading = .058 inch (1.47mm)
New gasket mean reading = .059 inch (1.5mm)
I have always assumed that the stock Toyota gasket was 1.2mm and crushed 1.0mm, this is not the case. I cannot work out the crush factor of a torqued down headgasket (with Toyota headbolts). I think the readings from the old gasket is close to of a new one because it has returned to it's relax state.
Well this is jus' something to consider when you are rebuilding a motor with a Toyota headgasket as it will be taken into account for your motors static C/R.
