Trouble with Sky Insurance??

anyone tried getting insured on a DC2?? im really struggling to get a decnt quote!

I'm 21, been driving 3 years and have 2 years ncb, no claims or convictions.

Well i can get insured on a starlet for around the £700 mark, a GT4 for £900 a pulsar for £1100 but come to a Integra DC2 and cheapest quote i've had is £1530!!

why are they so expensive to insure? i wont pay that, i have a thing now where if it costs much over a grand to insure i wont get it because of other cars i can get insured on for cheaper, ill pay around £1200 tops.

I got quoted on a Legnum VR4 for £620, 23, 3 years NCB. Yet a 2002 Impreza WRX Wagon is over £200 more and alot slower.

VR4 is 280BHP and very fast, it all depends on what the statistics are for that particular car as well, it's value, claim risk associated with it, theft statistics.

Why don't you just wait a couple of years.

just got a quote for £1340 on the JDM model... am i stupid enough to pay it?

i might just do that, i think id be happy enough with another starlet for a couple of years it just means im onto number 3 then lol.

Are you insuring fully comprehensive and paying the fee as a lump sum?

no tpft and yes paying as a lump sum, if i get a starlet i will probably do that as fully comp as thats under £800 but i just dont really see the great point in me going fully comp, i dont drive silly enough to need it and i do all mechanics and repairs myself. I know everyone makes mistakes and one day ill regret not having it but at the minute i dont think its worth the extra money.

UKDM has about 10BHP less as well IIRC

from cork in ireland, tried a uk spec dc2 integra type r a year ago, 23 with 5 yrs no claims, third party in a safe countryside area, €2700 (about £2100 at the time) was the best i could get, most wouldn't quote. so your lucky in england!
