turbo seals???

hi guys, the cars started to smoke but its only when i come off boost, its fine driving round off boost and fine on boost but like i said when you nail it and let off, bov sounds and a few seconds later white smoke out the exhaust, the more boost before you let off the more smoke. thats whats makeing me think turbo seals but never had them go before on any car ive had so dont know. the cars not useing oil(or if it is, its not a noticable amount), the coolant is clean. i dont drive the car alot but its just started doing it, one day its fine the next its doing this.

any ideas?

never thought of that, spode the hot pipe is the best bet as its straight off the turbo. il have a look now,

just took the hot pipe off from the turbo and the is oil residue in there so am i right in being 99% its the oil seals, i have been collecting parts for a td04 conversion with plans to do it over winter so if it is the oil seals il have to get started on the conversion now, just wanted to be sure as if it was the engine then id have to concentrate on that rather than the conversion.

My turbo seals went a few weeks ago, and the turbo side intercooler pipe had quite a bit of oil in it, car was smoking very badly on idle and take off, my oil pressure gauge was reading low aswell once car was warmed up. If in doubt get a compression test done and bottom end checked out too be safe. I got a compression test done and all cylinders where between 170-175. So happy enough i ordered TD04 kit and got it bolted on, solved the problem.

get on with the conversion and put the td04 on :) i was in the same boat when my ct9 seals went, put the td04 on and ran it on low boost to start with and it all good

yea i know mate, aint got an emb yet so whats the basics i can run it with till i can get them other bits?

This is exactly whats happening to mine mate. Oil pressure seems lower than usual & only when its warmed up do i get smoke & low pressure. Smoke smells very oily... comression test turned out good... why would the oil pressure be reading low though? Thats what scared me really.....just cant understand how my seals have gone since only using this brand new tongs hybrid for 3 months max!!! :(

i dont know about my oil pressure as aint got my gauge wired in, that turbo doesnt sound good though after 3month, mines just the standard ct9 but the cars been off the road and sat outside for a year so i was expecting problems and ive had my fair share in the 3weeks its been back on the road!

Any amount of oil would mean that the seals are gone???? I've just found just a bit of oil in my hot pipe, does that mean my turbo seals are gone? I don't have any smoke at all!!!

think my seals on way out too as i have this smoke.ill check my pipes aswell as im almost certain its the turbo seals.iv got my td04 kit sitting ready to go on so mite just whap her on and run low boost till i have my emanage ultimate
