Turbo Timer Problems

I bought my GT a few weeks ago it has a turbo timer already fitted but im not sure where it is as it is not visible from inside. 90% of the time it works fine and lets the car run for around 4minutes after switching the engine off but a few times lately it has made a horrible grinding noise just wondered if anyone could point me to any possible causes? any suggestions?

im sure this has been covered before but just cant seem to remember what the problem was do u know if its earthed properly? or maybe loose wiring?

im not sure where would the earthing wire be located? I will check previous threads to see if i can find any further info. Its going in for a full service soon so worse case i can get it checked over then.
